Blessing held for first Kula home to be rebuilt following 2023 wildfires
The first home to be rebuilt in Kula after the August 2023 wildfires was commemorated on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, with a blessing, representing another step forward in recovery after the fires. After all final inspections were completed last week, homeowner Thomas Liu, 83, said he will be moving out of a rental and into the completed two-bedroom, 860-square-foot cottage this month while work continues to rebuild the main house on his Kulalani Drive property.

The County of Maui issued a Stop Work Order to Nāpili Beach House, LLC, developer of a large single-family residence under construction in Nāpili. The home has been the subject of an ongoing dispute over its permits and size, as well as community concerns involving the height of the structure.
DPW Development Services Admin Office Moving to Maui County Service Center
The County of Maui Department of Public Works Development Services Administration division will be relocating from its current office at 250 South High Street in Wailuku to the new Maui County Service Center at 110 Alaʻihi St., Suite 214, in Kahului.
