The Planning Committee continues its review of the Lānaʻi Community Plan on Tuesday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lānaʻi Community Center.

Couch said documents related to the plan need further review and preparation to ensure clarity when presented to the public.

Under the bill, hours of operation would be limited to 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; automotive repair and body shops would require a special use permit; and only one ground or wall sign, no larger than 2 square feet would be permitted.

A series of public meetings are planned to receive input on a pending Home Business Bill, to permit and regulate home-based businesses in certain zoning districts.

Supporters described the bill as a tool to “protect the character of neighborhoods while allowing an industry that has been in the background to come out in the open and provide jobs for Maui’s small businesses.”
