Maui Food Bank sees rise in food demand; prepares for 35% surge
Maui Food Bank reports a steady upward trend in food distribution over the past three months as community need continues to grow. The organization distributed 537,996 pounds of food in October, an 18% increase since August, and expects demand to surge by another 35% in the coming weeks due to the approaching holidays and the ongoing federal government shutdown.
Hāna Highway nightly closures a Mile 4.3, May 23-26
Nightly full closures of Hāna Highway (Route 360) in both directions at Mile 4.3 in the vicinity of Door of Faith Road will take place from 9 p.m. on Monday, May 23, through 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25.
Maui Preparatory Academy’s Project Give-A-Gift Delivers to Molokaʻi
The student-led Give-a-Gift delivery on Molokaʻi was made possible through the combined efforts of Maui Preparatory Academy, Goodfellow Brothers, Inc, Lahaina Grill, Kahana Door of Faith Church, Better Together Photography, Molokaʻi Fire and Police Departments, and the Golestani Family.

“We’re going to hold service there. Until they throw us out, we’ll still hold service there. All I know is at this point, it is not over,” said Kahu David Kapaku. The case ended up in court when the Door of Faith Churches and Bible School Inc. on O’ahu listed the property for sale last year, reportedly at an estimated $2.5 million.
