Monday weather updates: Winds still in the forecast; Flood Watch canceled
The Flash Flood Watch that was in effect for the Hawaiian Islands has since been cancelled. A Wind Warning continues for Maui County and the Big Island until 6 p.m. East winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected, with gusts up to 60 mph.
March rainfall mostly below average across Maui County
Rainfall across most of Maui County was below average in March, according to the National Weather Service’s Monthly Precipitation Summary.
Flood Warning for Maui Until 9:45 a.m.
At 6:30 a.m., radar indicated very heavy rainfall over the Hāna coast, and along the slopes of windward Haleakalā. Rainfall rates of two inches per hour on saturated soils is leading to extreme runoff, with additional rainfall expected, according to the NWS forecast.
