County officials say officers Jun Hattori and Erik Losvar were responding to a call of shots fired when the incident occurred.

Officers Joshua Kalb and Erik Losvar are being recognized for their actions during a structure fire at the Kāʻanapali Royale condominium on June 12, 2013, in which they entered a burning unit and pulled out the lone male occupant from within.

The awards stem from two separate incidents involving rescues from burning homes in Kahului and Lahaina. Individuals honored include: Officer Jun Hattori, Officer Erik Losvar, Officer Gershom Slonim, Officer Randy Takayama , Officer Darryl Honda, Sergeant Kimberly Masse; Officer Clement Antonio; Officer Mathew Brown; and Officer Robert Corpuz.
