Update: Felicia Rapidly Weakens to Tropical Storm, Guillermo to Become Depression

Felicia is rapidly weakening as it heads toward the Central Pacific. The system went from a Category 5 hurricane yesterday to a Category 1 hurricane over a 24 hour period.

Forecasters say the system is expected to more into the Central Pacific Hurricane Center area of responsibility Tuesday evening as a tropical storm.

According to the NHC, Felicia “rapidly intensified over the past day or so, and additional strengthening is expected through early Friday,” and slow weakening is possible by this weekend.
