FEMA has approved $5.7 million in funding to support state-managed recovery programs as a result of the 2023 Hawaiʻi wildfires. These funds directly support individuals, families and communities by addressing some of their most urgent needs after a disaster.

One year after the devastating wildfires that impacted the people of Maui, White House Homeland Security Advisor Liz Sherwood Randall — representing President Biden — FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell and US Fire Administrator Dr. Lori Moore Merrell will join county and state officials on Maui to commemorate the one year mark in support of the community.
December deadline to apply for FEMA disaster assistance is Dec. 11
Time is winding down for homeowners and renters to apply for FEMA disaster assistance if they had damage or losses to their property from the August wildfires on Maui. Applicants may also seek approval for a disaster loan from the US Small Business Administration, a FEMA partner in Maui’s recovery. For both federal agencies, the deadline to apply is Monday, Dec. 11.
