Fires below the Kapalua Airport and just below the Lahaina Fire Station have both been deemed under control. ‎3:30p 8/8/10: Honoapiilani Hwy closed @ mp27 Due to brushfire mauka of Hwy,below Kapalua airport, traffic rerouted via Lower H-piilani Rd.

Fire burns umbrellas at Westin restaurant: More than a dozen umbrellas caught fire in a small blaze at a hotel restaurant in Kaanapali Saturday.  The fire was contained to the outside portion of the Westin Maui Resort & Spa’s  Tropica Restaurant & Bar and was quickly extinguished.  Total damages were estimated in excess of $100,000.
