Hospice Maui appoints new CEO

Hospice Maui announced that Melanie Dwyer has been appointed the new CEO of the organization. Dwyer served as the Interim CEO since January 2022, after Hospice Maui’s former CEO, Greg LaGoy, died suddenly on January 4.

Hospice Maui in Wailuku is grieving the loss of their Chief Executive Officer, Dr. R. Gregory LaGoy, who died suddenly on Jan. 4, 2022. LaGoy had been the CEO of Hospice Maui for more than 30 years.

Hospice Maui hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday morning for its Hale Ho’olu’olu facility in Wailuku. The building, once complete, will serve as a five-bed hospice residence.

Hospice Hale Slated to Begin Construction in January

Hospice Maui plans to break ground at its current site in Wailuku in January, the agency said. The news comes as a separate non-profit organization, Islands Hospice, announced plans for in-patient service on Maui as well.
