#Hana bridge

The weight limit will be strictly enforced with traffic personnel stationed on both approaches of the bridge during the repair period.

All lanes and all directions of Hāna Highway will be closed on weeknights from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. between Aug. 12 and 30, 2019. No closures will occur on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday nights.

The meetings will feature discussion on a project to improve six of the historic bridges along the Hāna Highway between Huelo and Hāna town in East Maui.

Maui is anticipated to receive $100M in Federal Highway funds over the next four years, which will be matched with $24M in local funds from the State and County

County officials say the $2.5 million project included removal of the existing bridge and rock wall, removal of a temporary detour bridge, and re-installation of a water line.

Work to replace the Waiohonu Bridge in East Maui begins tomorrow. Work on the project is scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, with completion slated by March 6, 2013.

The new concrete structure replaces the old bridge that was built in 1915. The old structure was among a list of county bridges identified to have structural deficiencies.
