Crater Road striping begins near Haleakalā National Park next week
The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is notifying the public that one lane on Crater Road (Route 378) will be closed beginning on Monday, Aug. 10 for permanent striping work. Traffic will be alternated in the open lane.
Update: HDOT to conduct runway improvements at Moloka‘i Airport
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will temporarily close Runway 5-23 at the Moloka‘i Airport (MKK) nightly from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., July 20-23. The runway will reopen July 24 at 5 a.m. During these closures, the airport will be closed to air traffic.
Lane closures on Puʻunēnē Avenue for striping work, May 26-29
One lane of Puʻunēnē will be closed between Wākea Avenue and Kūihelani Highway from Tuesday, May 26 to Friday, May 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping work.
Single-lane closure set for Piʻilani Highway for night roadwork
The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is advising highway users that the right northbound lane on Piʻilani Highway near East Waipuʻilani Road will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Tuesday and ending Friday. Work may be completed sooner.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is notifying highway users that one lane in the “Pali” tunnel on Honoapi‘ilani Highway (Route 30) will be closed overnight for a routine tunnel inspection.

Maui police host child safety seat inspection, June 7
The Maui Police Department will host a child safety seat inspection event within the Maui Marketplace parking lot from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The event is held in collaboration with the Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition, the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
