Designed for recent high school graduates and college students, Hawaiʻi Gas is recruiting for a range of temporary positions at all locations statewide.

In Kahului, the average price is $4.57, which is six cents lower than last week and 24 cents lower than a year ago.

The AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch reports that gas prices are experiencing a slight decline in most cities. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.59, which is one cent less than last week and 18 cents lower than a year ago. The national average gas price is $3.15, which is four cents less than last week. 

Hawaiʻi gas prices moved up slightly in most areas over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.60, one cent higher than last week and 18 cents lower than a year ago. The national average gas price is $3.19, two cents lower than last week. 

Hawaiʻi Gas, the state’s regulated gas utility, has filed a request with the Hawaiʻi Public Utilities Commission for a proposed rate adjustment, which may affect monthly bills for residents and businesses across the state. The utility is seeking a total revenue increase of approximately 17.67%, though the actual impact on individual bills will vary based on factors such as gas usage, customer classification (residential or commercial) and the island of residence.

The Public Utilities Commission has begun a series of public hearings regarding Hawai‘i Gas’ application for rate increases, revised rate schedules and rules across all its service territories throughout the state.  

“Gas prices are remaining steady, though there are slight fluctuations in some areas,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaiʻi general manager. In Kahului, the average price is $4.66, which is the same as last week and 17 cents lower than a year ago.

Hawaiʻi Gas filed an application with the Hawaiʻi Public Utilities Commission on Friday requesting adjustments to utility gas rates on all islands. The rate increase would provide for increased reliability and energy resiliency and cover operational and maintenance costs that have gone up significantly over the past seven years.

Hawaiʻi Gas, the state’s only regulated gas utility, will mark its 120th anniversary on Aug. 1, 2024, commemorating 12 decades of dedicated service to the people and businesses of Hawai‘i.

In Kahului, the average price of $4.84 is three cents higher than last week and one cent higher than a year ago.

Applications for the annual federally funded energy credit assistance program for low-income residents, who require help to pay their heating and cooling bills, will be accepted beginning June 1 via mail or in-person drop-offs through the month.

Hawaiʻi Gas, the state’s only franchised gas utility, announced that it has expanded its executive team by welcoming Manu Bermudes in the role of Vice President of Human Resources.

The average price of gas in Kahului is $4.76, five cents lower than last week, three cents lower than last month, and 14 cents lower than a year ago.

The average price of a regular unleaded gas in Kahului was $4.77 per gallon as of Thursday, 5 cents lower than last week, AAA Hawaiʻi reported. The current price is a cent lower than last month and 12 cents lower than a year ago.
