Video: New murals at King Kamehameha III connect students to Lahaina’s history and culture

Maui Public Art Corps on Tuesday unveiled 17 murals that connect King Kamehameha III Elementary School students to Lahaina’s rich history and culture. The murals were created by artists and students at the school’s temporary campus.

Hawaiʻi Youth Symphony to receive $50K grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

The Hawaiʻi Youth Symphony has been approved for a $50,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The grant will support the Hawaiʻi Youth Symphony’s annual Pacific Music Institute summer program, strategic planning initiatives for board members, faculty, and staff, and a neighbor island performance tour for young musicians.

State Foundation on Culture and the Arts issues Call for Artists

The program is seeking qualifications from individual artists for artwork to be commissioned for various locations statewide. Sites for art may include opportunities for three dimensional freestanding sculpture, two dimensional images translated into durable materials, and large painted murals. Through this call the SFCA intends to establish a qualified pool of professional artists for consideration.

$759,500 Distributed to Support Hawaiʻi Arts and Culture

The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, Hawaiʻi’s state government arts agency, distributed $759,500 to 41 Hawaiʻi arts and culture organizations and 20 individual arts and culture practitioners impacted by COVID-19.

Virtual “Art at the Capitol” Returns, April 14-16

The virtual event will feature short videos of state senators and representatives discussing artworks in their offices. In addition, artworks and art education information will be projected onto the construction walls facing Punchbowl and Beretania streets of the State Capitol from dusk to 10 p.m. for the three days.
