Constance “Connie” Lau, president and CEO of Hawaiian Electric Industries, is retiring after 15 years as the leader of the parent company of electric utility Hawaiian Electric and community bank American Savings Bank.
Hawaiian Electric to Conduct Aerial Line Inspections for East Maui and Upcountry, Dec. 17
Hawaiian Electric will conduct its routine aerial line inspections for East Maui and Upcountry from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17. Hawaiian Electric will be using a helicopter to perform the power line inspections.

Hawaiian Electric permanently closed its walk-in payment centers in Honolulu, Kahului, Hilo, Kona and Molokaʻi due to declining use and customers adapting to other payment options. The payment centers have been closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hawaiian Electric Extends Moratorium on Service Disconnections to Dec. 31
Hawaiian Electric is extending its suspension of service disconnections for nonpayment through Dec. 31, 2020. The company advised customers challenged by the financial impacts of COVID-19 to seek utility bill assistance from government and nonprofits and set up a payment arrangement plan.

Hawaiian Electric Proposes Community Solar Pilot Project
Hawaiian Electric Company has filed a proposal for a community solar pilot program with the Hawai‘i Public Utilities Commission. If the PUC approves the pilot, approximately 50 O‘ahu utility customers will have the opportunity to take advantage of the many benefits of solar without putting solar panels on their roofs.
