70-year-old pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash in Kīhei; suspected driver arrested
A 70-year-old Māʻalaea man suffered fatal injuries when he was struck by a vehicle during a hit-and-run collision in Kīhei on Monday night.
The suspected driver was arrested on suspicion of first degree negligent homicide and collisions involving death.
Hit-and-run crash in Kīhei claims life of 64-year-old woman
A 64-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision reported in South Maui on Thursday night. A preliminary police investigation reveals that a pedestrian was on the sidewalk when an unknown vehicle executed a short radius right turn out of the parking lot located at 1881 South Kīhei Road; proceeded to drive over the curb and onto the sidewalk when it collided into and drove over the pedestrian. The operator of the unknown vehicle did not stop or render aid to the pedestrian and fled the scene northbound on South Kīhei Road, police said.

Maui Police Department Vehicular Homicide Unit Investigators request the public’s help regarding an ongoing fatal hit-and-run investigation. The investigation stems from a report of a man found lying in the road on Piʻikea Avenue in Kīhei around 4:05 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
