For the first time since before the pandemic, more than 200 health and human service providers, first responders and early childhood educators gathered in person for Hoʻoikaika Partnership’s 12th Annual Conference, “We Are All in This Together / E Alu Like Kākou: Stories of Strength and Resilience,” on Sept. 25, 2025.

Hoʻoikaika Partnership has been selected as the next beneficiary of the ʻOhana Fuels “Fuel up. Do good.” program. From July through September 2025, a portion of every gallon of gasoline purchased at ʻOhana Fuels stations across Maui will be donated to support Hoʻoikaika Partnership’s work to strengthen families and prevent child maltreatment throughout Maui County.

O‘ahu’s Melanie Shim, MD, and Maui’s Felicitas Livaudais, MD, were both recognized for their outstanding volunteer activities that improve community health and wellness.

As April marks National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Hoʻoikaika Partnership is excited to host the 4th annual ‘Ohana Fest “Journey to Make Pono” on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens. This event is designed for families who are eligible for services offered by partner agencies. The event includes activities, community resources, music and giveaways.

A public rally is planned this Friday at the Maui County Building to advocate for early childhood care and education. The event is hosted by the Hawaiʻi Children’s Action Network Speaks and the Hawaiʻi Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance. The March 22 event starts with keiki entertainment at 9:30 a.m., the rally at 10 a.m., and a march at 11 a.m.

Hawai‘i Community Foundation announced the award of $575,000 to three nonprofit partners focused on providing assistance to Maui families with small children who have been affected by the fires in August: Partners in Development Foundation, Child and Family Service, and the Hoʻoikaika Partnership with fiscal sponsor Maui Family Support Services.

Support for East Maui families will arrive in plenty of time for Christmas thanks to a coalition of organizations behind the ‘Ohana Support Mobile Community Services.

Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of Maui and Ho‘oikaika Partnership invite Maui County keiki and families to attend a special kick-off event to help celebrate National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.

This month the Hoʻoikaika Partnership on Maui is working to raise awareness about child abuse prevention in observance of National Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Month of the Young Child.
