7 displaced by structure fire near Piʻihana Road in Wailuku, Maui
Seven people were displaced following a home fire in the Piʻihana area of Wailuku on Sunday night. Department officials say there are preliminary indications that the fire may have been intentionally set.
Maui Adopt-A-Street pilot program seeks volunteers to keep litter from streams and ocean
Volunteers who want to help keep trash and debris out of Maui streams and surrounding ocean water are encouraged to participate in the new Adopt-A-Street pilot program that was launched recently by the County of Maui Department of Public Works. To start, there are two adoptable locations: Alamaha Street from East Wākea Avenue to Dairy Road in Kahului; and ʻEhā Street from ʻImi Kālā to Hoʻokahi streets in Wailuku.
Pi‘ihana Fire Deemed Suspicious, 5th Fire in Month
The cause of the fire is considered suspicious, since in the last month there has been four other fires in the general vicinity, also with undetermined causes.
Water Repairs Affect Traffic in Wailuku Millyard
The Maui Department of Water Supply is working to repair two leaky service laterals on Wili Pa Loop. Officials say the south intersection with Imi Kala, closest to Mill Street, will be closed from 4 p.m. until approximately 10 p.m. today, July 26, 2012.
