HandsOn Maui, the County of Maui Volunteer Center, encourages nominations for the annual Volunteer Hero Celebration of Service, an initiative that highlights residents who actively volunteer to improve their Maui County communities.

A mural inspired by nearby Kauaʻula Valley with flowers and butterflies by local artist Noble Richardson greets children, their families, staff and other visitors at Maui Economic Opportunity’s Head Start Lahaina Center, the only preschool in town to survive the August 2023 wildfires.
Tsuhako sworn in as new Maui Director of Human Concerns; new County deputies named
Lori Tsuhako was sworn in today as County of Maui Director of Human Concerns, a new department that launched July 1, 2024. Also today, Jessica Crouse was named the Deputy Director of Human Concerns, and Paul Barany was sworn in as the Deputy Director of Public Works. Deputy directors are not subject to council approval.
