The Maui Nui Marine Resource Council will partner with Keālia National Wildlife Refuge staff to remove invasive plant species that threaten to overgrow and crowd out native plants along the Boardwalk. Volunteers will meet at the Keālia NWR Visitor Center at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 and carpool to the first entrance of the boardwalk for the volunteer day. The workday will conclude at 11 a.m.

Two people were rescued from waters off of Keālia Boardwalk in North Kīhei on Wednesday after their kayaks overturned in choppy conditions, fire officials said.

North Kīhei Road is partially blocked near the Keālia Boardwalk due to an accident. The advisory was issued at around 9:09 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017.

The parking lot will be closed for approximately 5-10 days as crews replace the Trex decking along the entire Kealia Coastal boardwalk.
