First of two stolen ‘Welcome to Lahaina’ signs is re-installed

With the diligent help of the community, the sign was recovered and the members of Lahaina Rotary Club and Lahaina Restoration Foundation re-installed the sign on Friday. The second sign which stood across from Puamana Park will be installed at a future date.

Second Lahaina sign that was stolen has since been recovered and will be reinstalled

The second of two Lahaina Gateway signs that were stolen shortly after the August wildfires, was returned to the Lahaina Restoration Foundation on Friday. It was found cut into three pieces, but executives say they are able to piece the sign together and will reinstall it in West Maui.

Lack of Quorum for Lahaina Sign Design Guidelines Meeting

The County of Maui Cultural Resources Commission has postponed its upcoming meeting on Sept. 4, due to lack of quorum, according to a county announcement.

Decisions Scheduled for Lahaina Sign Design Guidelines

The CRC could vote to approve the changes at the September 4 meeting, or if outstanding concerns remain and additional work is needed, then another meeting will be held in October.

Proposed Lahaina Sign Design Guidelines Topic of Workshop

The meeting runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Kamehameha III Elementary School cafeteria on Front Street.

Sign Guidelines in Lahaina Historical District Under Review

The commission is scheduled to discuss the item at a series of meetings, the first of which is set to take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, in the Planning Department Conference Room in Wailuku.
