No Tsunami Threat After Loihi Seamount Quake
There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii after a preliminary magnitude 4.0 earthquake reported this morning at the Loihi Seamount south of the Big Island of Hawaii.
Lava Enters Ocean from Puʻu ʻŌʻō
A lava flow from the Kīlauea Volcano’s Puʻu ʻŌʻō vent entered the ocean at around 1 p.m. on Saturday. The activity came a day after a small earthquake, measuring 4.3 occurred at the Lōʻihi Seamount.
No Threat After 4.3 Earthquake at Loihi, Hawaii Island
There is no tsunami threat following a 4.3 magnitude earthquake at the Loihi Seamount, located south of the Big Island of Hawai’i. The measurement of the quake was first lowered to 3.9 from an initial preliminary 4.1 reading, and then raised following further evaluation to a 4.3.
