Carissa Moore (HAW) and Maui’s Eli Hanneman claimed victories at the Florence Pipe Pro Presented by HTA on Saturday, a World Surf League Hawaiʻi/Tahiti Nui Qualifying Series men’s and women’s QS 2,000-level event.

Oʻahu’s Eweleiula Wong and Luke Tema each claimed wins at the World Surf League The Hawaiian Islands Sunset Pro, a men’s and women’s Qualifying Series 1000, in iconic Sunset Beach conditions on Monday.

Maui, Hawaii duo Levi Young (HAW) and Kai Lenny (HAW) will take on Justin Roberson (HAW) and Todd Coffey (HAW) to kickstart men’s Round of 96, Heat 1.

Maui’s Levi Young (HAW) also put on a clinic in his Round of 96 debut, accruing an remarkable 14.65 and 8.25 of his own with a dominant forehand attack. The now 18-year-old witnessed his older brother, Cody, win this event in 2019 and that helped spark ambitions of his own. 

At the 2022 International Surfing Association’s World Junior Surfing Championship in El Salvador, the Hawai’i Surf Team beat 45 countries to win the team title — and Luke Swanson and Wahiawā’s Ēweleiʻula Wong won individual gold medals.
