Coast Guard rescues father, sons after boat capsizes south of Lānaʻi

One man and two children were rescued by Coast Guard personnel after their boat capsized offshore of Lānaʻi Saturday. A helicopter crew located the capsized 16-foot boat about 7 miles south of Mānele Harbor. One man and two boys, ages 8 and 12, were clinging to the hull, not wearing life jackets.

A free presentation called “Spying on Spinners: What We Can Learn from Listening” on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom will take a look at research conducted in the Maui Nui region (Maui, Moloka‘i, Lāna‘i and the ‘Au‘au Channel) that listened to spinner dolphins to learn more about their behaviors.
