Trust for Public Land secures Hawaiʻi Sentinel Landscape Designation

Hawaiʻi has formally received a Sentinel Landscape designation, the Trust for Public Land announced today. To increase its chances of survival, an Hawaiian monk seal pup named Lōliʻi was transferred in June from people crowded Waikīkī Beach to a wildlife protected beach at Marine Corps Base Hawaiʻi on Oʻahu.

10 Military Ospreys Conduct Training Flight Over Maui

Ten MV-22 Osprey aircraft were observed flying over parts of Maui on Thursday afternoon. Maui Now has confirmed that the aircraft were conducting a training mission with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 268, Marine Aircraft Group 24 out of US Marine Corps Base Hawaiʻi.

Hawaii-Based Marines Killed in Afghanistan Helicopter Crash

Authorities say they were part of the CH-53D Sea Stallion helicopter squadron, based of out Marine Corps Base Hawaii, at Kaneohe Bay. The release of identity of those killed is pending notification of next of kin.
