New Maui County program ‘School to Pool’ helps keep island keiki safe in the water
Twenty-five kindergarten through eighth grade students from Hawaiian Mission Academy Maui in Kahului are the first “School to Pool” graduates. Last week, they completed 10 courses at Coach Spencer Shiraishi Memorial Pool and received County of Maui certificates for American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Level 1 and 2 training.
Staff Shortages Affect Pool Hours in Kahului, Wailuku, Upcountry and Kīhei
The County of Maui, Department of Parks and Recreation Pool Section announced the closure of Coach Spencer Shiraishi Memorial Pool and Wailuku Pool today due to staff shortages. Also due to staff shortages, the Upcountry Pool and Kīhei Aquatic Center will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Jan. 2, 2020.
