The Maui Nui District Scouts, a part of Aloha Council, Scouting America, hosts its 3rd Annual Golf Fundraiser, Aug. 17, 2024, at the Dunes at Maui Lani golf course.

Grant Chun, Eric Nagamine and Jamie Wright will receive the Silver Beaver Award; and Ira Uradomo and James Brent will issued the District Award of Merit award.

Since the tournament to Maui in 1999, the event and host organizations have donated a total of more than $5.6 million to Hawaiʻi community charities.

Volunteer Ellie Leialoha will receive the Silver Beaver Award and volunteers Jamie Wright and Dan Batson will receive the District Award of Merit from the Maui County Council, Boy Scouts of America, in a ceremony on Jan.23, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the LDS Maui Lani Stake Center.

The fundraiser dinner held at the Hyatt Regency Maui drew more than 400 members of the community and raised approximately $40,000, net after expenses.

The award is the Council’s highest honor given to an individual, and will be issued during a celebratory dinner on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Hyatt Regency Maui.

Boy Scouts on Maui with Troop 14 from Kula spent a recent weekend constructing a 300-foot trail, and expanding native reforestation at the Pu‘u Mahoe cinder cone.
