Wildland “Live-Fire” Training in North Kīhei, April 18-25
The Maui Fire Department will be conducting a series of wildland firefighting, “live-fire,” training exercises in N Kīhei starting on Tuesday, April 18.
Unscheduled Cane Fire in Pāʻia Quickly Contained
A brush fire reported about a quarter mile above the Pāʻia Gym on Baldwin Avenue on Thursday night burned a mall area of sugar cane before being brought under control.
Unscheduled Sugar Cane Fire Burns 50 Acres
The fire was reported at 3:20 p.m. in an area of sugar cane off of Hāliʻimaile Road just below the Maui Trap & Gun Club on the Pāʻia side of the gulch.
Unscheduled Pāʻia Cane Fire Burns 1 Acre
Fire officials say crews from Pāʻia arrived on scene at 12:22 a.m. to find a 50 by 50 foot area of cane on fire, with the fire moving uphill and away from area homes and the gym, which was 50 yards away.
