Two octogenarians born 28 days and worlds apart ­– Lolita Bucaneg and Reynaldo De Leon – were honored at the Lahaina-Honolua Senior Citizens Club Older Americans Luncheon on May 21 at Maui Economic Opportunity in Wailuku.

Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc, in partnership with the Maui County Planning and Coordinating Council, will host the 52nd Annual Kupuna Aloha Luncheon from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Grand Wailea. 

The council includes the officers of more than 50 kupuna clubs across Maui County and seeks to enhance the quality of life for seniors through education, companionship and better health.

More than 650 kupuna, guests, current politicians, candidates and dignitaries attended the 46th Annual Kupuna Aloha Luncheon hosted by the Maui County Planning & Coordinating Council, and sponsored by Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc.

More than 700 individuals attended the 42nd Annual Kupuna Luncheon held over the weekend in South Maui.
