Maui Orchid Society Contest Yields New Tagline

The nonprofit Maui Orchid Society is celebrating its 75th anniversary and sponsored a tagline contest among its membership, which has increased to 143 with the recent addition of 44 members.

Garden Pests and Diseases Class on Jan. 13

The Sustainable Living institute of Maui at UH Maui College is offering a five-session training in garden pests and diseases beginning Jan. 13 and continuing the next for four Wednesdays from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

Kohala Center Offers Training for Fruit & Veg Growers

The Kohala Center is offering a two-day workshop at Maui at the University of Hawai‘i Maui College on Nov. 6 and 7. to train new and seasoned fruit and vegetable growers to meet food-safety standards and the needs of wholesale markets. Register by Nov. 2.

SLIM Offers ‘Quick and Dirty’ Gardening Classes

These “quick and dirty” farming and gardening sessions are designed with the busy, working person in mind—not too much time needs to be invested, but a bounty of information will be offered.

Submit Maui Fair Horticulture Entries on Sept. 23, 24

Growers, gardeners and farmers of all kinds are invited to submit homegrown vegetables, fruits, nuts and flowers to be displayed at the Maui Fair.
