The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for the Big Island with the latest forecast track bringing the center of Hone near the South Point from Saturday night into Sunday morning. The NWS reports Hone will then strengthen to a Hurricane late Sunday as it passes south of Oʻahu and Molokaʻi.

With the forecast of possible stormy weather this weekend and its potential impact to Hawaiʻi, Hawaiian Electric advises its customers to review their emergency preparedness plans and be ready for possible outages.

The County of Maui, Department of Transportation announces the reinstatement of transportation services starting Monday, July 27. The Maui Bus Fixed Route, Paratransit, Commuter and Human Services Transportation services will resume its services that were recently suspended due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Douglas.

Hurricane season starts June 1 and forecasters are predicting a neutral to slightly above average hurricane season with an outlook of 5-8 tropical cyclones.

Hurricane season is over so I can wait till next year to resupply, right?

Orlene is forecast to slow in forward speed through the early part of next week as it takes a turn toward the NNW, and makes its way toward the Central Pacific.
