UH: Shark Involved in Fatal Maui Incident Believed to Have Been 14-Foot Tiger Shark
Using new DNA barcoding technology, researchers at the University of Hawai‘i have determined a tiger shark caused fatal injuries to a 56-year-old Nāpili man, who was bitten at Maui’s Honolua Bay on Dec. 8. Separately, by measuring bite marks on the surfer’s board, they have determined the shark was approximately 14.3-feet-long.
Maui Police ID Shark Bite Victim as Nāpili Man
Maui police have identified the man who suffered fatal injuries from an apparent shark bite at Honolua Bay on Tuesday as Robin Warren, 56, of Nāpili.
