P. Denise La Costa, a Maui community leader and business owner, announced that she is running for Maui County Mayor.  The news was shared during a press conference Thursday, fronting the County Building in Wailuku.

California visitor dies in Miscellaneous Accident at pool in Kīhei

A California man has died in a miscellaneous fatal accident reported Tuesday evening in the pool area of a resort complex in Kīhei.

Temporary Agreement Reached on Kihei Monkey Pod Trees

The agreement calls for sidewalk repairs to proceed in the area along South Kihei Road fronting the Maui Schooner, with the trees to be left in place for the time being.

Plans to Move Kihei Monkey Pods Prompt Protest

The group planning the rally said, “The latest announcement has roused the same ire once again in a sizable segment of the Maui Community.” A coalition of community groups are joining together this weekend from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the tree site fronting the Maui Schooner Resort.
