Hampton Inn & Suites Maui North Shore, a forthcoming 136-room oceanfront retreat set to debut in May 2025, has appointed Serkan Hizliok as Area General Manager. With nearly two decades of experience in luxury hospitality, Hizliok will lead the team in welcoming guests to this newly built hotel set along the shores of Kahului Bay.

The Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association on Wednesday celebrated the exceptional contributions of the state’s hospitality workforce in front of an audience of 750 people at the 32nd Annual Na Po‘e Pa‘ahana Awards at the Sheraton Waikīkī.

As of Sunday morning, Aug. 20, approximately 1,800 individuals are reported to be sheltered at six hotel locations around Maui, with the American Red Cross and volunteers assisting with the transition from congregate shelters to hotels. Displaced individuals still at congregate shelters has dwindled to just 16 people.

After several ownership changes, the old Maui Palms Hotel site between Maui Beach and Maui Seaside hotels in Kahului is under construction to become Maui Palms Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton.

California’s ASAP Holdings recently acquired longstanding Maui Seaside Hotel in Kahului and said it will be converted to an “upscale Hilton hotel.”
