The Coast Guard suspended its search at 7 p.m. Monday for an overdue boater west of Oʻahu. The missing 61-year-old man departed on a fishing trip early Wednesday morning and was reportedly last seen fishing near the Waiʻanae coast off the southwest side of Oʻahu. 

The Coast Guard is searching for an overdue boater west of Oʻahu. A good Samaritan found a partially sunken vessel matching the description of the missing man’s boat about 18 miles west of Waiʻanae at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 24, 2026. 

Emergency responders launched a search by ground, air and ocean, and the missing man was located at around 11:08 a.m., about 100 feet feet down a cliff on the north side of Honokōhau Bay, in heavy vegetation.

Missing is Matthew Kai’mana Packard-Asai, 19, who was last seen fishing on the rocks near the northern point of Kahili Beach. He is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with black hair and wearing a black hat, black shorts and black shirt.

Coast Guard and partner agency crews searched 200,048 square nautical miles for over 242 combined hours. Missing is Earl “Oa” Hind, 42, who was last seen in the vicinity of Kaulana boat ramp.  

Hawaiʻi Island police say 42-year-old Earl Kekuanaoa Hind, of Kona, a local fisherman, was last known to have launched his vessel from the South Point area on Monday, April 7, 2025. Hind and his vessel were last observed on Wednesday, April 9, around 12 p.m., offshore near the Miloliʻi area heading in a northerly direction.

The body of a missing 24-year-old Kula man was recovered on Saturday afternoon from waters off of East Maui, a day after he failed to return from fishing.

The search for a missing fisherman off Hāna, Maui was suspended late Tuesday after responders covered more than 10,200 square miles over two days.

The body of a missing Kahului fisherman was recovered at around 9:22 a.m. about a mile west from where he fell into the water at the Pokowai Sea Arch in Kahikinui late Friday night.

On its third day, the Maui Fire Department is continuing its search for a Molokaʻi fisherman missing since Thursday morning off the northwest coast of Lānaʻi.
