The Lahaina Restoration Foundation invites the community to experience E Hoʻi Ka Nani I Mokuʻula (Let the Glory Return to Mokuʻula), the free 360-degree immersive film experience presented at Maui Ocean Center’s The Sphere. The next screening will take place on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

A Maui County Council committee advanced a bill Monday to establish parking benefits for Hawaiʻi residents at the Wailuku Garage, correct a South Maui mapping error and create paid and permit parking zones in West Maui as Lahaina Harbor continues its post-fire recovery.

The completion of a master plan does not translate to immediate construction, but rather establishes a “living framework” for subsequent environmental reviews, historic reviews, permitting and multi-phase implementation over generations.

A free 360-degree film experience bringing to life the sacred history of Mokuʻula resumes screenings this month at the Maui Ocean Center.

Step into the heart of Hawaiian history with E Hoʻi Ka Nani I Mokuʻula (Let the Glory Return to Mokuʻula), a groundbreaking 360-degree animated film that brings Mokuʻula’s rich history and enduring legacy to life.

A powerful new recording of the 19th-century Hawaiian mele “E Hoʻi ka Nani i Mokuʻula” is now available, performed by  Keʻeaumoku Kapu and Uʻilani Kapu and created as part of the forthcoming  documentary film Ea.

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation announced that a limited number of tickets are still available for the upcoming screening of E Hoʻi Ka Nani I Mokuʻula (Let the Glory Return to Mokuʻula).

The free screening will take place on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at 6 p.m. at The Sphere at Maui Ocean Center in Wailuku. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation announced that tickets are still available for the September showing of E Hoʻi Ka Nani I Mokuʻula (Let the Glory Return to Mokuʻula). Tickets go quickly, so this is a wonderful and rare, last-minute opportunity, organizers said.

ʻĀina Momona has submitted a formal complaint to the State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD) and the County of Maui regarding recent construction activities that have allegedly disturbed or threaten to disturb Mokuʻula, a sacred and historically significant site.

Residents are encouraged to attend the County of Maui’s Lahaina Community Meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the Lahaina Intermediate School cafeteria.

In partnership with cultural organizations, local schools and community businesses, the foundation will open a new Lahaina History Museum. 

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation is now accepting reservations for the next screening of E Hoʻi Ka Nani I Mokuʻula (Let the Glory Return to Mokuʻula) on Friday, June 13 at 6 p.m. at The Sphere at Maui Ocean Center. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

This month’s screening of E Hoʻi Ka Nani I Mokuʻula will take place on May 9 at 6 p.m. at The Sphere at Maui Ocean Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

In response to public interest, the Lahaina Restoration Foundation will continue to screen E Hoʻi Ka Nani I Mokuʻula (Let the Glory Return to Mokuʻula) monthly at The Sphere at Maui Ocean Center in Wailuku throughout 2025. The next monthly screening of the film will take place on Feb. 14 at 6 p.m.

A waiver of special management area rules for Lahaina wildfire survivors is expected to reduce rebuilding permit processing by about a year, speeding reconstruction and economic recovery for the West Maui community impacted by the deadly Aug. 8, 2023, wildfires.

After marking one year since devastating wildfires swept through West Maui and Upcountry, state, county and federal leaders gathered to recap response and ongoing recovery. The fires destroying the town of Lahaina, claiming the lives of 102 people and leaving thousands displaced. The process toward recovery is ongoing with housing of wildfire survivors remaining a key focal point.
