Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui invites community to volunteer at Kula’s Fire Restoration Nursery
The Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui will host a community volunteer service day at the Kula Community Watershed Alliance (KCWA) Community Restoration Nursery on Friday May 29th from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Located in Upper Kula just off Kekaulike Avenue near Kula Lodge, the event is open to the public and welcomes community members of all ages and abilities.

Pūlama Lāna‘i’s conservation team, working in close partnership with Lāna‘i community members and conservation organizations, has documented several rare native species not seen on island for decades. The discoveries highlight both the ecological importance of Lāna‘i’s landscapes and the role of collaborative stewardship in protecting the island’s natural resources.
Nominations open for Mālama i ka ʻĀina Award recognizing invasive species prevention
Since 2003, this collaborative partnership has presented the annual Mālama i ka ʻĀina Award to landscapers, plant providers (including retail and wholesale nurseries and garden shops), or commercial/agricultural property owners and managers who demonstrate dedication to keeping invasive species out of Maui County.

Hawai‘i set to receive more than $9M for forest restoration projects
The Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Forestry and Wildlife will receive $4.9 million for forest restoration work in areas with high values for carbon sequestration and the highest potential to provide habitat for rare species. The project seeks to plant 80,000 native trees and remove invasive weeds from 1,200 acres.
