1,700 in Wailuku Lose Power During Tree Trimming
An estimated 1,700 customers briefly lost power in Wailuku on Friday, July 7, 2017 when tree trimmers accidentally dropped a palm frond on electrical lines.
UPDATE: Maui Electric Close to Bringing All Customers Back Online
Maui Electric restoration crews made significant progress on Monday, Jan. 5. Less than 100 customers were still without power in pockets of Maui, including the upper Olinda, as of 4:30 p.m. today.
Downed Tree and Power Lines on Olinda Road
Maui police have closed a portion of Olinda Road in Makawao due to a downed tree and power lines. The closure went into effect at 8:45 a.m. and extends from Pookela Church to Hanamu Road. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and expect delays in their commute.
