Maui Council adopts resolution on recycled water in effort to preserve potable water for affordable housing

Citing several supportive General Plan policies, the resolution requests the mayor and Department of Environmental Management to increase the “production and expansion of recycled R-1 water to preserve potable water for the construction of affordable housing and to support fire protection, greenbelts, agriculture and cultural uses.”

Community town hall for South Maui, Feb. 29

Council Member Thomas Cook announced today that he will be hosting a South Maui community town hall at 6 p.m. on Feb. 29 at the Maui Economic Development Board’s Malcolm Center.

Cook said the meeting is a collaboration with county departments and other agencies to provide South Maui residents with information regarding fire mitigation efforts, emergency management and impacts to the local economy.
