South Kīhei Road reopens ahead of schedule following repairs from January flood event
Part of South Kīhei Road between Wailana and Kaonoulu streets was reopened ahead of schedule at 3 p.m. Friday, according to the County of Maui Department of Public Works. The area was severely damaged by recent floodwaters.
Motorists advised to slow down when traveling east on Kaʻahumanu at Lono Ave.
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises the traveling public to slow down while traveling east on Ka‘ahumanu Avenue when approaching the Lono Avenue intersection. The pavement at the intersection was damaged by a water main break Saturday night. The road surface is uneven and rough.

Heavy rainfall in East Maui overnight triggered landslides and roadway damage that have closed multiple sections of Piʻilani Highway between mile markers 19 in Kahikinui and mile marker 39 in Kīpahulu.
