Flood Watch continues: Kona low brings threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms
A kona low west of the islands continues to threaten the state with the potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms. A Flood Watch remains in effect until Thursday afternoon for the entire state. There is also a Winter Weather Advisory in effect through Thursday morning for the Big Island summits.
Update: Winter Weather Advisory Canceled for Maui, Still in Effect for Big Island Summits
The winter weather advisory has been canceled for the summit of Haleakalā on Maui (as of 9:52 a.m.), but remains in effect for the summits of Hawaiʻi Island through 6 p.m. The National Weather Service says the threat for winter weather on Maui has ended.
Snow in Forecast for Big Island Summits
The National Weather Service says a “wintry mix of rain, snow and freezing rain” are expected with total snow accumulations of up to two inches in the forecast.
