Instead of being on air all week to preview The Sentry golf tournament at the Plantation Course, the 76-year-old Rolfing, a longtime Kapalua resident and analyst for NBC Sports and The Golf Channel, was working many hours behind the scenes to help bring the tournament back to Maui.

Mark Rolfing has survived stage 4 cancer and is now putting his energy into helping to save the PGA Tour tournament he was instrumental in bringing to Maui 28 years ago.

The Sony Open in Hawaiʻi at Waiʻalae Country Club on Oʻahu will be the 2026 PGA Tour season opener Jan. 15-18 after the Tour announced today that The Sentry will not be contested in 2026. 

The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) has announced the acquisition of Hawai‘i Stage, formerly Hawai‘i Stage & Lighting Rentals (HSLR), during its annual Native Hawaiian Convention at Hilton Waikoloa Village. Hawai‘i Stage, a full-service event production company founded in 1976, is known for its contributions to Hawai‘i’s event industry and has now relocated its operations from Mapunapuna to Kapālama, Honolulu.

Hiram Thompson almost gave the game away, but they clinched a basketball victory for Hawaii with a pair of clutch free throws.
