Large surf on the North Shore of Maui has kept Ocean Safety Officers busy over the last couple of days. Rescues were reported at Kanahā, Hamakuapoko Point, Nāpili Bay, and DT Fleming Beach.

Three visitors were rescued from waters off of Papalaua Beach Park in West Maui on Wednesday afternoon after being swept out in choppy seas and 25-30 mph winds.

A California couple in their late 30s, had been standup paddleboarding but were blown out to sea by brisk 30-40 mph tradewinds. A friend and an employee at the beach rental kiosk attempted to help.

Four men from Wyoming were rescued in waters off of west Maui on Sunday morning after becoming caught in gusty winds offshore at Nāpili Bay.

A 42-year-old Wailuku man was assisted to shore on Sunday, after he lost his paddle and was unable to make it back to shore on his own.

A woman and her five-year-old daughter who were having trouble getting back to shore aboard a stand-up-paddle board on Sunday afternoon are safe after being helped by bystanders.

A woman visiting from Louisiana was rescued in waters off of Kāʻanapali on Sunday afternoon after she became caught in a windline while stand up Paddle boarding, fire officials said.
