Retired 4-star Navy Admiral John Aquilino named to Hawaiian Electric board of directors

Admiral John Aquilino (US Navy, Retired), who in a distinguished 40-year naval career held key leadership roles, most recently as commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command based in Hawaiʻi, has been appointed to the board of directors of Hawaiian Electric.

News brief: US Pacific Fleet Band performs at Maui schools

US Pacific Fleet Band Tradewinds Quintet traveled to the island of Maui on Aug. 23-30, 2024 as part of a Music Education Program where they performed for the students and faculty at five schools on Maui. Schools that were treated to performances included: Wailuku Elementary, Pu’u Kukui Elementary, Lahaina Elementary, Kamali’i Elementary and Kalama Intermediate.

In addition to the ship and balloon-type object hovering above, there was a “large jet flying low in big circles” and a submarine nearby, according to witness reports.

The US Pacific Fleet has confirmed the presence of a “Russian Hydrographic Vessel” operating in waters off of Hawaiʻi.
