Maui police recover ordnance from shoreline in Olowalu

Maui police recovered a suspicious object emitting smoke on the shoreline in Olowalu, Monday afternoon. Patrol officers arrived at around 12:23 p.m. to a report of a fire-related type case near mile 16 of the Honoapiʻilani Highway.

Unexploded Ordnance Found at Wailea Residence

The Maui Police Department’s bomb squad responded to a Wailea home after a piece of unexploded ordnance was found on the property while yard work was being done yesterday.

Two WWII Era Munitions Off Molokini to Remain in Place, No Detonation Planned

There are no plans to ‘detonate-in-place,” two WWII era munitions in waters off Molokini Crater in Maui County. The decision, announced today, is based on an assessment from the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board conducted at the State’s request. 

Unexploded Ordnance Warning Issued in Advance of Removal off Molokini

Although the UXOs discovered at the Molokini reserve have been in place for more than 70 years without incident, there is a potential for the ordnance to explode, particularly if they are disturbed.
