2026 County Volunteer Heroes recognized during National Volunteer Week

Twenty-three residents were honored today as 2026 Volunteer Heroes for their contributions to community nonprofit organizations, as Mayor Richard Bissen proclaimed Volunteer Week from April 19-25, 2026, in Maui County.

County seeking nominations for 2025 volunteers to be recognized for exemplary work

HandsOn Maui, the County of Maui Volunteer Center, is seeking nominations for its annual Volunteer Hero Celebration of Service, which honors outstanding individuals volunteering with Maui County nonprofit organizations. Nominations will be accepted until March 5, 2025, or until 25 qualifying nominations are reached, whichever comes first.

Kanu Hawaiʻi leads Volunteer Week Hawaiʻi 2022 with nearly 30 Maui events

On Maui, there are nearly 30 events scheduled that include a spectrum of activities across the county: native plant restoration at Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge; Honolua Bay cleanup; Nā Ho Aloha needs volunteers for lawn care for seniors; and more.

Four Maui Food Drives Collect Combined 1350 Pounds of Food and $1,318 in Donations

Four food drives held across the island collected more than 1,350 pounds of food and $1,318 in donations.  The food drives were organized by a hui of Maui conservation nonprofit organizations and business who joined forces as part of Volunteer Week to assist those in need during the COVID-19 crisis.
