MEO celebrates 60 years: A ‘community hub’ on Moloka‘i
Maui Economic Opportunity Inc. celebrates 60 years of service in Maui County this year. This retrospective looks at its branch on Moloka‘i where its offices across the street from Kaunakakai Elementary School became a “community hub” in its early years, according to MEO Moloka‘i Director Mahie McPherson.
Maui Economic Opportunity Names Mahie McPherson Moloka‘i Manager
Maui Economic Opportunity named Mahie K. McPherson in late March as its new Moloka‘i Manager. McPherson will run agency operations on the island while serving as liaison to the community and identifying needs.
Molokaʻi manager Yolanda Reyes retires from Maui Economic Opportunity
Yolanda made it a point to adjust bus services to the needs of the community. She established a route from Central Molokaʻi to Kalae. When the Maunaloa Post Office was temporarily closed due to structural and vector control issues last year, she set up bus runs to help West End residents collect their mail from the Hoʻolehua Post Office.
