Adjustments Made to Some Central and West Maui Bus Routes

Maui Bus. PC: Wendy Osher.
Beginning Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, select Maui Bus routes will change.
The County of Maui Department of Transportation announced the updates, which include the following:
● Kahului Loop #5 and Kahului Reverse Loop #6: Both routes will no longer go into Kahului Shopping Center. These routes will use the bus stops on Kamehameha Avenue, near the Salvation Army and across of Kahului Union Church.
● Wailuku Loop #1 and Wailuku Reverse Route #2: To address the frequent delays on these routes due to heavy traffic, these buses will no longer service the two bus stops in Waiehu Heights.
● Waiheʻe Villager Route #8: The Waiheʻe Villager will add the two bus stops in Waiehu Heights to its route.
● Lahaina Villager Route #23: Minor time adjustments to existing stops have been made within the route.
To notify riders, the department this week is posting laminated signs at about 70 stops that are impacted; signs and voice announcements aboard buses are being released; and text messages to riders are going out, among other notices.
Maui Bus fares are $2 boarding or $4 for a daily pass. Monthly passes are also available.
The revised schedule of the specific routes will be posted on the county website at www.mauicounty.gov/bus. Riders are able to track their bus in real time and get arrival predictions using the Maui Bus app, available on iOS and Android or at mauibus.org.
