Maui police officer Suzanne O was killed in the line of duty by a suspect using a ghost gun, a weapon that is easy to acquire or make from parts acquired on the internet.

The courtroom was overflowing with police officers who lined the halls just days after losing one of their own in the line of duty.

On Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at approximately 3:46 p.m., Central Dispatch received a report of an abuse case at a Noho Place residence in Pukalani, Maui.

*WARNING/GRAPHIC CONTENT: Maui police released body camera images from a deadly shooting reported Sunday on Molokaʻi. Over the course of about three minutes, officers are heard instructing the suspect over 70 times to drop a machete, and 29 times to move back. The man, later identified as 40-year-old Nathaniel Naki, was holding a two foot machete during the confrontation.

One man is dead after a confrontation with officers on Molokaʻi who were responding to a report of a Temporary Restraining Order violation on Sunday morning.

Justin Namauu was being held in lieu of $2 million bail.  According to court records, a finding of probable cause was made on Thursday after a preliminary hearing held before Judge Blaine Kobayashi.
