The new program will charge visitors $10 a day, $50 a week and $150 a month to park at Kīhei beaches, with priority parking for locals on weekends and holidays.

Permit applications for the recreational use of County pools, gyms, fields, stadiums and tennis courts during the winter-spring period of Jan. 1 to April 15, 2025, are being accepted by the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation starting Oct. 1, 2024.

For the second time in three days, a California visitor was pulled unresponsive from waters at Kamaʻole III while snorkeling at the location.

A visitor from Oakland, California died after being pulled unresponsive from South Maui Waters on Thursday.

First responders were called to South Maui on Sunday afternoon for a report of a man found floating face down approximately 25 yards offshore at Kamaʻole Beach Park III.
