UH study: COVID-19 impact on life expectancy felt less in Hawaiʻi

While life expectancy across the United States declined significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, a new study led by researchers at the University of Hawaiʻi Thompson School of Social Work & Public Health and the Hawaiʻi State Department of Health found that Hawaiʻi experienced a smaller decline compared to national trends.

CDC Awards $24.5 Million to Hawaiʻi State DOH To Address COVID-19 Health Disparities

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has awarded the Hawaiʻi State Department of Health $24.5 million to address COVID-19-related health disparities. The funding, part of a $2.25 billion nationwide investment, seeks to advance health equity by expanding state, local, US territorial and freely associated state health department capacity and services.
